Unitat de Tècniques Augmentatives de Comunicació (UTAC)

Who we are

UTAC is an external service of the Facultat de Psicologia of the Universitat de Barcelona. It comprises UTAC Sírius, of the Departament de Drets Socials i Inclusió, and UTAC Educació, of the Departament d'Educació i Formació Professional of the Generalitat de Catalunya.

UTAC serves people who can benefit from using augmentative communication, the professionals who support them, and their families. People may use augmentative communication as a result of a motor disability, autism spectrum disorder, intellectual disability, or any other cause that makes it difficult or impossible to use speech to communicate, develop language and/or access learning. UTAC also provides advice on assistive technology in areas such as access to technology, adapted play, environmental control and assisted mobility.
